The Summit Vs Rachelle Fallout -

No matter what you think about Summit's decision to replace Rachelle Lefevre in 'Eclipse', it has sure got tongues wagging across the Twilight world. Big gossip names such as Ted Casablanca, Marc Malkin, Lainey Gossip & more, have all voiced their opinions on the growing feud. Marc Malkin recorded this video, which includes one majorly interesting poitn - how is Rachelle going to do promo for New Moon now? -

Ted Casablanca wrote an interesting article with comments from a Summit 'insider' -

"What about that amazing and dedicated Twi fan base, we asked the Summit insider? You know, that impressively forceful, online contingency that's been screaming for Lefevre's rehiring ever since the news first broke?

"Because the fan base is so passionate," our studio know-it-all replied, "any change [is one] they feel they need to be consulted on."

Bitchy! OK, so we guess Summit isn't too interested in maintaining nicey, nicey with anybody right now, huh? But remember, they said Rachelle started it all, so, of course, they're in lousy moods, right?

"You have no idea," sasses Deep Twi. "Everyone started freaking out when they saw how Rachelle was going to spin this. Execs were prepared to play nice but were 'stunned' when they saw Rachelle's statement. So you can scratch the playing nice part."

We asked DT one more time if there's any hope Lefevre can reprise her role in the third film, after hearing all the fan outrage and such.

"After this public mess? I think that's a no."

Lainey Gossip, who is usually rather sarky about the Twilight Saga, also had some good points -

"It doesn’t change the fact that Rachelle, from the beginning of the Twilight madness, has always been a team player, and has always appeared to be fully engaged in the process, and would likely, if properly informed of what it would cost her, would have stood in line obediently. It also doesn’t excuse Summit’s inflexibility and coldhearted and compassionless attack on an actress who has suddenly found herself in need of redirection as the role for which she became known has now been taken away from her.

Beating down on Rachelle Lefevre the way they did, when all she wants is to be part of the story, and not get kicked out of the cool kid’s club and treated like an outcast, was pretty cutthroat. And really petty. And totally overkill. Right?

As for what’s next for Rachelle – here’s the good news: all this was over a movie with Dustin Hoffman and Paul Giamatti. So she’ll get to act. With real actors. And she’s a 30 year old actor who’s now getting a chance to act with the best. Let’s face it – whatever Twilight is, it’s not about acting. A chance then to work on her craft."

So.... What's your take on the above? Me? I with Bryce luck, and hope that she 'becomes' Victoria with ease, and again, to Rachelle, goodluck in everything you do, I'm sure New Moon is amazing. :)

Summit Bites Back At Rachelle Lefevre -

Hours after Rachelle released a statement to Access Hollywood, explaining that she was just as shocked as the fans to hear that she would be replaced in Eclipse, Summit has also issued a statement blaming Rachelle for the re-cast -

“We at Summit Entertainment are disappointed by Rachelle Lefevre’s recent comments which attempt to make her career choices the fault of the Studio. Her decision to discuss her version of the scheduling challenges publicly has forced the Studio to set the record straight and correct the facts.”

“It was not until July 20th that Summit was first informed of Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to ‘Barney’s Version,’ a commitment we have since been advised she accepted in early June. Summit had acted in good faith that she would be available to fulfill her obligations both in terms of rehearsals and shooting availability for ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.’ We feel that her choice to withhold her scheduling conflict information from us can be viewed as a lack of cooperative spirit which affected the entire production.”

“Ms. Lefevre took a role in the other film that places her in Europe during the required rehearsal time, and at least ten days of ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’s’ principal photography. This period is essential for both rehearsal time with the cast, and for filming at key locations that are only available during the initial part of production.”

“The fact remains that Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to the other project - which she chose to withhold from Summit until the last possible moment - makes her unfortunately unavailable to perform the role of Victoria in ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse."

I don't know about you, but I'm distinctly unimpressed with Summit. It may well be inconvenient that Rachelle has spoken out about her feelings on the matter. However, in her shoes I think I would too. Alot of people were blaming her for something, which she says is not her fault.

Either way, Summit's insensitive approach to this reply will have upset both Rachelle and the fans. It shows complete inflexibility on Summit's part, and a lack of understanding over what the fans want, which, at the end of the day, is the most important thing! No fans = no big bucks for the studio!

It was only 9 days between Summit finding out about Rachelle's 10 day commitment to another film, and them announcing the re-cast. That is an amazingly short amount of time in which to fire and hire... Just some food for thought there...

Despite Being Re-Cast, Rachelle Is Still Thanking The Fans -

Bless her :(

Rachelle Lefevre - Surprised & Hurt At Summit's Decision To Re-Cast Victoria -

After much speculation, Rachelle has given a statement to Access Hollywood, which clears up any uncertainties -

"LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Summit Entertainment announced the replacement of “Twilight Saga” star Rachelle Lefevre in the series’ third film, “Eclipse,” on Tuesday night – and fans weren’t the only ones surprised by the news — Rachelle was shocked as well!

“I was stunned by Summit’s decision to recast the role of Victoria for ‘Eclipse,’” Rachelle said in a statement to Access Hollywood.

On Tuesday, Summit announced that Bryce Dallas Howard would be taking on the role in “Eclipse,” due in May 2010.

“I was fully committed to the ‘Twilight’ saga, and to the portrayal of Victoria,” Rachelle continued, explaining the turn of events that led to the casting change. “I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules. My commitment to ‘Barney’s Version’ is only ten days. Summit picked up my option for ‘Eclipse.’ Although the production schedule for ‘Eclipse’ is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those ten days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for ‘Eclipse,’ never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10 day overlap. I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part.”

The star concluded her statement with a regretful tone.

“I am greatly saddened that I will not get to complete my portrayal of Victoria for the ‘Twilight’ audience. This is a story, a theatrical journey and a character that I truly love and about which I am very passionate. I will be forever grateful to the fan support and loyalty I’ve received since being cast for this role, and I am hurt deeply by Summit’s surprising decision to move on without me. I wish the cast and crew of ‘Eclipse’ only the very best,” she said."

Thanks to Rachel at Access Hollywood for sending this over to me.

When I was under the impression that this had been Rachelle's decision, I didn't feel too bad about it. I mean a gals gotta do, what a gals gotta do right? Now that I know it was Summit that chose to re-cast over 10 days that could have been worked around, I'm distinctly unimpressed with their decision. I mean, do they know their fan base at all?

Please, spill your thoughts in the comments section below. It's a sad day in the Twilight world...

Thoughts go out to you Rachelle. We know how much you loved that role, but goodluck in the future. :)

Seth & Leah Clearwater - Who Will Be Cast?

With Eclipse shoots beginning in only a matter of weeks, you've got to assume that the actor and actress who will play Seth and Leah have been chosen. Casting was closed for these parts on July 1st, and we're now at the end of the month, so it shouldn't be long before we hear who will play who.

Trawling google for a time has yielded nothing in the way of news (it's a slow day all around after the bombshell that is the Victoria re-casting), other than a couple of interesting audition tapes that were sent in for the role of Leah.

One such hopeful is the actress Sarah Souza, who by the looks of youtube and various other sites has a mini campaign running for her to become Leah in Eclipse. Who knows who will be cast, but her audition tape is an interesting look into how actors approach these things. You can take a look at the tape at exploretalent.

Here's hoping that we find out soon, I'm fit to burst! :)

Rachelle Lefevre Replaced In Eclipse - Bryce Dallas Howard Takes Role Of Victoria -

Holy Moly! Rachelle has chosen another project over "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse"!!! I don't quite know how to feel about this latest turn of events, I need to go and sit in a quiet corner for a while... -

"Actress Rachelle Lefevre Will Be Replaced By Howard In The Role Of Victoria

Los Angeles, CA July 28, 2009 — Summit Entertainment announced today that Bryce Dallas Howard will take over the role of "Victoria" in the studio's upcoming production of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. Actress, Rachelle Lefevre, who portrayed the character in TWILIGHT as well as the upcoming release of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, will not continue in the role due to scheduling conflicts with another commitment the actor has made. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE will start filming in Vancouver this coming August.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, the third film in the studio's TWILIGHT film franchise based on Stephenie Meyer's blockbuster book series, will be directed by David Slade from a screenplay written by Melissa Rosenberg. The film will be released theatrically in North America on Wednesday, June 30, 2010.

"We are incredibly happy that Bryce has agreed to come into the franchise," said Erik Feig, Summit's President of Worldwide Production and Acquisitions. "Rachelle brought "Victoria" to great screen life and Bryce will bring a new dimension to the character. The franchise is lucky to have such a talented actress as Bryce coming in to fill the role."

In THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob—knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.

Howard is represented by ICM and Management 360."

You can see this official statement on the news section of Summit's site.

I also just saw over at Twicrack, that Rachelle has signed on for another role, which is probably the reason why she has chosen not to continue on with Eclipse.

"Rosamund Pike, Minnie Driver and Rachelle Lefevre are playing Paul Giamatti's many wives in "Barney's Version," the adaptation of the Mordecai Richler novel being directed by Richard Lewis. Robert Lantos is producing via his Serendipity Point Films."Barney's" tells the story of the politically incorrect, fully lived life of the impulsive, irascible and fearlessly blunt Barney Panofsky (Giamatti).

Lefevre will play Clara, Barney's first wife, a wild, troubled artist. Driver plays Barney's second wife, the annoyingly loquacious Mrs. "P." Miriam, Barney's third wife and true love, will be played by Pike.

Principal photography starts Aug. 17 in Rome. Dustin Hoffman also is in the cast, playing Barney's father."

So if the Hollywood Reporter is correct, and Rachelle is to begin filming her new project on 17th August, that is the scheduling conflict that is referred to in Summit's official press release.

UPDATE - This was NOT Rachelle's decision. For her statement click here.

Jamie Campbell Bower Talks Comic Con & Caius -

MTV have a new interview with Jamie Campbell Bower -

MTV: Director Chris Weitz is new to most of these guys, but so are you. What kind of discussions did you two newbies have before filming began?

Bower: He gave us a lot of freedom. We sat down prior to it and just bounced ideas around. The backstory for Caius is already there, as it is for the Volturi. It's all fairly self-explanatory. We sat down and I said, "I think he's got this deep-rooted anger. He doesn't have a power, and he's pretty pissed off about that, because the rest of them have powers." And then, once we got on set, he was just like, "Go for it." We'd do a couple of takes of the same thing, and then we'd change it up and I'd do something crazy.

MTV: Give us an example of one of the crazy takes.

Bower: We'd do different accents, different styles. There would be one that would be very introverted, and then there would be another one that would be completely theatrical. It was good fun.

MTV: Unfortunately, we don't see you in the "New Moon" trailer. So maybe you could give us a sneak peek at Caius? Look into the camera and give us your favorite line, in-character.

Bower: [Gets into character] "We don't offer second chances. I would advise that you follow through on your promise soon."

An Interview With Tinsel Korey -

Twilight Lexicon got to interview Tinsel (Emily Young) recently. Here is a snippet and you can click here for the whole article -

"Can you describe what working with Chris Weitz is like?
He’s an actor’s director, he gets us probably because he is an actor. He’s a very attentive and warm man; I hope I get the pleasure to work with him again in the future.

There are some major, powerhouse actors in the New Moon cast. Did you ever find yourself getting a little star-struck or tongue tied around any of them?
Nope. They’re just normal people.

How would you describe your vision of Emily Young?
Oh god, I don’t think I’m allowed to right a novel for this interview. Lol. So let me summarize in one sentence. She’s a survivor, the heart and soul of the team, when they’re down she brings them up. She’s the one you want to have in your corner.

Do you have anything more that you’d like to share with Twilight fans?
I’d like to thank them for all the support I’ve received and I’m glad I get to be on this journey with them. HUGZ."

Yay! Thom Yorke & Bon Iver Confirmed For New Moon Soundtrack & Kings Of Leon A Possibility!-

HitFix gives us the details -

"Director Chris Weitz has confirmed to that Radiohead's Thom Yorke and Bon Iver will be contributing all-new tracks to the film "Twilight Saga: New Moon."

"I selfishly want to put songs in by artists I love. And some the cast and crew also happen to love," says Weitz. "I think [Bon Iver] is fantastic. He says he wrote it for the film, but who ever knows if it might just be something laying around in his cupboard."

Weitz mentioned that he will be listening to Yorke's new track tomorrow (July 24) and "unless it's sounds of him belching, I think I'll put it in."

The comments came during the "Twilight" sequel cast and crew interviews at Comic-Con in San Diego, the multi-day fest at the Convention Center.

British rock group Band Of Skulls -- who have lately been opening for Spinnerette -- will also be included and Weitz still is "hoping to get Kings Of Leon."
